I wanted also to recommend a book that I read recently - The Art of Travel by Alain de Botton. Have you read this? I've seldom read a book that asked so little from the reader, but gave so much. He talks about why we travel, and what we hope to find when we travel. And about how we approach places that we travel to with very specific needs, but they confound us by being much more than what we imagine them to be. It's very philosophical and also funny, in a very subtle way.
